Case Study: Yankee Produce - Clean Modern B2B Website with Online Ordering
Company & Challenge
Our client is the owner and operator of a B2B wholesale produce and grocery delivery business in Tampa, Florida. He wanted a modern website that highlights his family’s vast experience in the industry, shows potential customers exactly what areas he services and what products he offers and allows current customers to place orders online.
The old website:
Although our client has been in business since 2001, he didn’t currently have an active website when he reached out to us. His business was all referrals and customers had to call in orders via phone or email.
Our Solution
Function:
- We researched online ordering systems that specialize in B2B wholesale to find software that met the client’s needs at a reasonable price. Then we embedded bluecart.com so customers could easily place and track orders and pay invoices online or through the app.
- We created a page for customers to download and print documents so the client didn’t need to constantly email them.
- Built a contact form that included questions to help the sales manager learn more about potential customers before contacting them so he could better prepare for the initial meeting.
Copy:
- We know that our client’s typical customer is an ultra-busy restaurant, hotel or assisted living manager who doesn’t have time for a clunky confusing onboarding procedure so we used the services page to describe the quick and simple step-by-step process to get started.
- Increased local SEO by strategically using the location name(s) and address throughout the site and assisting the owner in claiming his Google Business profile which allows the business to be listed in Google Maps and to receive Google reviews. A local business listing is more likely to appear when people search for a nearby business using Google Maps.
- The website features friendly language that showcases their commitment to small business customer service and big business price advantages.
- We researched customer pain points to develop a call to action that inspires people to contact them. Because they service large companies and restaurants it’s essential that the customers can count on receiving the freshest food delivered on time.

Design:
- Our color palette is vibrant green, red and yellow with bright images of fresh, in season produce.
- Use of white space made the website look clean and fresh and ensured that the colorful images would pop against the contrasting background and make our copy easy to read.
- Include testimonials along with a photo of the person to build trust and credibility and back up our claim that the client only sells high-quality products.
- Because the website is utilized by both current and potential customers we immediately offer visitors well-placed buttons to guide them toward placing an order or becoming a client so they have a straightforward path if they already know what they need.
Bringing it all together:
- The new wholesale produce website appeals to the clients B2B customers with language they understand and solutions to problems they face as busy owners/managers of food service departments.
- It gives clients a glimpse into the actual distribution center with photos that exhibit the warehouse space, loading areas, and vans so they can visualize the care for food safety compliance and organization.
- It provides a modern convenient way to place orders on an app or computer.
